Where to buy Pokémon cards: Walmart, Target, Costco, GameStop and more
Pokémon cards are sold almost everywhere in the USA: big-box stores, pharmacies, game stores and online marketplaces. Here's what each kind of store usually carries, how restocks work, and when it's better to buy online.
POKEKURA is an independent distributor and online shop, and isn't affiliated with any retailer on this page. Store names are used only to describe where Pokémon cards are sold, and are trademarks of their owners.
Walmart Pokémon cards
Walmart sells English Pokémon TCG products, from booster packs, blister packs and tins to collection boxes and Elite Trainer Boxes, in the trading card section of most stores and on its website. Online, check who the seller is: many listings come from third-party Marketplace sellers, often above retail price, so look for items sold and shipped by Walmart itself.
Target Pokémon cards
Target carries English Pokémon cards in stores, often in the trading card aisle near electronics, and online. New sets and popular products sell out quickly and can come with purchase limits.
When does Target restock Pokémon cards?
Target doesn't publish a restock schedule. Trading cards in stores are usually stocked by third-party vendors on a weekly route, so every store has its own restock day. The most reliable tip is to ask staff which day the card vendor comes in. Online restocks appear without notice and sell out fast.
Costco Pokémon cards
Costco sells Pokémon cards mostly as bundles, with several collection boxes, tins or Elite Trainer Boxes packed together, online and in some warehouses from time to time. Stock comes and goes, and you need a membership to buy.
GameStop Pokémon cards
GameStop sells sealed Pokémon products in stores and online, including preorders for new sets.
GameStop Pokémon drops
A "drop" is a limited release that goes live online at a set time: a new set, a special collection or an exclusive. Drops often sell out in minutes, so follow the store's announcements and be signed in with your payment details saved before it starts.
Best Buy Pokémon cards
Best Buy sells Pokémon TCG products online, often as preorders and drops for popular releases.
Walgreens, CVS and Dollar General Pokémon cards
Pharmacies and discount stores such as Walgreens, CVS and Dollar General usually carry a small range of single booster packs, blister packs and mini tins, near the checkout or in the toy aisle. They're handy for a pack or two, but stock varies a lot from store to store.
Barnes and Noble Pokémon cards
Barnes & Noble carries Pokémon TCG products, such as booster bundles, collection boxes and Elite Trainer Boxes, in many stores and online, next to its Pokémon books.
TCGplayer Pokémon cards
TCGplayer is an online marketplace where many sellers list Pokémon singles and sealed product, with market prices based on recent sales. It's a good place to find a specific English single: check each seller's rating and shipping cost.
Buying Japanese Pokémon cards online
Every store above sells English cards. Japanese sets come out first, often months before their English versions, and many collectors prefer their print quality (why collectors buy Japanese Pokémon cards). We ship sealed Japanese booster boxes, Elite Trainer Boxes and rare singles from Japan with tracking, publish every quantity break on the listing, and ship free on orders over $2,000.
