Mew, Mewtwo and Arceus Pokémon cards worth collecting

Mew, Mewtwo and Arceus are three of the most collected Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. Here are their best-known cards, and where to find the newest ones.

Mewtwo Pokémon card

Mewtwo has been a chase card since the very first set:

  • Base Set Mewtwo (1999): the original holo rare, card 10/102. 1st Edition copies in top grades are the most valuable.
  • Mewtwo & Mew-GX (2019): a Tag Team card from Unified Minds, with a much-loved alternate art.
  • Mewtwo ex in 30th Celebration: the Japanese 30th anniversary set (M6a) features Mewtwo ex alongside Mew ex. See the 30th Celebration set and its booster box.

Mew Pokémon card

Mew is the Mythical Pokémon Mewtwo was cloned from, and its cards are just as collected:

  • Ancient Mew: a promo card given out with Pokémon: The Movie 2000, printed in an invented "ancient" script.
  • Mew ex in 151: the 151 set covers the original 151 Pokémon, ending with Mew, and its Mew ex cards are fan favourites.
  • Mew ex in 30th Celebration: a new Mew ex for the 30th anniversary.

Arceus Pokémon card

Arceus is the Mythical Pokémon said to have shaped the Pokémon universe. It was introduced in the Diamond & Pearl games:

  • Arceus LV.X (2009): from the Platinum-era set Arceus, which printed many different Arceus cards that could be played together.
  • Arceus VSTAR (2022): from Brilliant Stars (Star Birth in Japan), released around the time of the game Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Its gold version is a favourite.
